Syntec Bio Inc. Expanding Labs in Asia

Strategic expansion aims to accelerate sustainable biotech solutions for regional industries

LONDON, UK / SINGAPORE — June 2025 — Syntec Bio Inc., a leading UK-based innovator in sustainable biotechnology, today announced the expansion of its laboratory and research operations into Asia, marking a major milestone in the company’s global growth strategy. The new facility, based in Singapore’s Biopolis research hub, is set to enhance Syntec Bio’s R&D capabilities and strengthen regional partnerships across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

This expansion reflects the increasing demand for eco-consistent biotech solutions in fast-growing Asian markets, where industrial sustainability, circular economy targets, and decarbonization are rising priorities.

“Our new Singapore lab will serve as a regional innovation center,” said Dr. Eleanor Matthews, Syntec Bio’s Chief Strategy Officer. “We’re bringing our enzyme, fermentation, and waste-to-resource platforms closer to the manufacturers and governments that are driving Asia’s green transition.”

Scaling Sustainable Solutions

The Singapore lab will focus on accelerating the development of Syntec Bio’s flagship technologies, including:

These platforms are already in use by Syntec Bio’s partners in Europe and North America, and the company aims to localize and scale similar projects with Asian food producers, packaging firms, and specialty chemical manufacturers.

Why Asia?

The move comes as Asia becomes a major driver of the global bioeconomy. With ambitious climate goals set by countries like Japan, South Korea, and Singapore—and growing regulatory pressure for low-carbon technologies—Syntec Bio sees an urgent need for on-the-ground innovation support.

The Asian facility will also support pilot programs in Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, where Syntec Bio is working with local firms to implement enzyme-based wastewater treatment and agricultural waste valorization.

“Asia is where scale meets sustainability potential,” said Matthews. “This lab will help us adapt our technologies to local raw materials, climate needs, and policy frameworks.”

Collaboration & Talent

The new facility will operate in collaboration with Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and several leading universities. Syntec Bio plans to hire local biotech researchers, process engineers, and business development staff, creating up to 40 new jobs over the next 18 months.

A Greener Global Footprint

Syntec Bio Inc. has committed to becoming a net-zero biotech manufacturer by 2030, and this expansion will contribute to that goal by reducing shipping-related emissions and enhancing regional circularity in materials sourcing and processing.

The company also plans to use the Asia site as a launchpad for its modular SynPlant™ units, which provide decentralized, clean biomanufacturing solutions for rural and off-grid applications.
